Peter has a national profile as an outstanding pedagogue. He holds a Bachelor of Music (Honours in Performance) and a Masters Of Music Performance from The University of Melbourne, a Graduate Diploma of Education from Monash University in addition to four years studying and working in Vienna, Austria. He performs as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player having performed throughout Australia, in Vienna and at the Ayre Summer Music Festival in Scotland. Peter was a founding member of the wind quintet Holzbläzer and performs as part of the Ariel Ensemble. He has performed in many musical theatre productions including The Secret Garden, Les Miserables and Sunset Boulevard.
On two occasions Peter coordinated the junior program at the Australian Flute Festival where he also presented for the Professional Learning Day. He has conducted numerous workshops and masterclasses throughout the country including programs for the Flute Society of South Australia, Victorian Flute Guild, Newcastle Flute Society, South West Music in NSW, and was twice artist in residence at the Flinders School of Music, Adelaide.
Peter holds a long standing teaching engagement at The University of Melbourne where he has extensive experience teaching practical study, flute workshops and conducting the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music Flute Ensemble. Former tertiary teaching positions include Deakin University and Monash University. Peter is head of a thriving flute program at the Presbyterian Ladies’ College where he also conducts flute ensembles and concert bands. His Melbourne Flute Summer School ran for nine years inspiring and motivating many flautists.
