Brushing your teeth
Have you played all your major and minor scales and arpeggios today? I call it brushing your teeth. You just do it without question it as you know it’s good for you.
Play them all with the range that suits you. One octave if your starting out, two octaves if your a bit further along and ultimately over the entire range.

Professional Development Day
The Victorian Flute Guild’s Professional Development Day will be taking place on Friday August 25th with the fabulous Elizabeth Koch from Adelaide as the special guest. I’ll be co-presenting some sessions with Liz as well. Here’s the flyer and I’m looking forward to seeing lots of flute teachers on the day.
Junior Day
Thank you to everyone who took part in last Sunday’s Junior Flute Day. It was a great success with 35 young and enthusiastic players spending the whole day engaged in flute activities. Once I get some photos I’ll post them.
Junior Day registrations
Keep those VFG Junior Flute Day registrations coming in. You’ve got until next Friday.
Registrations for the Junior Day close on June 29th
Registrations for the Victorian Flute Guild Junior Day close on the last day of this school term. Keep them rolling in!
Thank you
Thanks very much everyone for the great response to my book. Glad to hear so many people are enjoying it and finding it useful.
Junior Flute Day
Just a reminder about the Junior Flute Day I’ll be running for the Victorian Flute Guild on July 22nd. Registration is due by June 29th.
Mastering G Harmonic Minor Scale
Students often seem to struggle with the G harmonic minor scale. It’s a requirement for second grade AMEB exams so I’ve created this free worksheet to hopefully help them out. (It’s available to download under exercises on this site as well.
VFG Junior Day
I’m pleased to let you know that I’ll be running a Junior Day for the Victorian Flute Guild on Sunday July 22nd. See the attached flyer for more details.
